Staff Accountant

Finance – Ridgeland, Mississippi
Department Finance
Employment Type Full-time
Minimum Experience Mid-level

We are looking for an experienced accountant to add to our Finance Department. This position will report directly to our Finance Director to assist with running the day to day accounting and business operations.

Over the next six months, we will be transitioning from Quickbooks to a more robust system to accommodate our fast growing business needs. This position will be instrumental in assisting with the transition and creating scalable operating processes. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about the opportunity to help build and become a leader in the finance department.

If you are looking for a traditional role as a bookkeeper, this is probably not the right job. No two days are created equal and very few tasks are monotonous. We move smartly, innovate quickly, and grow exponentially. Rolling with the punches and understanding there's no 'typical' workday, while keeping our financial resources in check are crucial for success in this role.

If you love being part of a team who is dedicated to excellence, know the value of the skills you bring to the table but want to be challenged to grow professionally, you've found the right company.

SchoolStatus is a young company based in Mississippi who is changing education forever by providing awesome tools for K-12 teachers and administrators. We strive daily to create the best data suite on the planet by partnering with schools across the country and listening to their needs.

We have a culture based around freedom and responsibility. We believe that as we grow, we should provide our employees with increased responsibility and freedom in their jobs. We aren't hung up on titles or inane conference calls. We recruit and retain best-in-class talent and regularly judge all staff by the following premise: "would we enthusiastically rehire this person?".

We're an incredibly dedicated group of folks who know our relevant areas of expertise very well, but we also know when we need help. We believe in the power of a group of highly motivated, intelligent, and responsible folks surrounding themselves with the same and seeing what happens next.

We started out as a napkin idea that has blossomed into a multi-million dollar enterprise by providing amazingly useful products to our customers and we want you to be a part of that.

Throughout your career, you've been a "go getter" your managers and peers depend on to get the job done. GAAP is your second language.

You obsess over the details and take pride in doing an excellent job, no matter how big or small the task.

You work independently (meaning you don’t require constant instruction) but also know when to ask your teammates for help.

You’re a team player who shows up on time and doesn’t complain.

You embrace the challenge of doing something you’ve probably never done before and believe, together, we have the means to change education forever.

(This is a biggie) You are looking to surround yourself with the smartest group of people you’ve ever worked with because you know they’ll help you step up your game...and you, theirs.
